Mercedes-Benz USA – Improperly Tightened Rear Axle Differential Bolts

Mercedes-Benz USA (MBUSA) is recalling certain 2024 GLC 300 4MATIC, and S 580 4MATIC vehicles. The bolts that secure the rear axle differential to the rear axle carrier may come loose, which can result in a separation of the drive shaft from the rear axle differential.

Consequence Summary Driveshaft separation can cause a loss of drive powereasing the risk of a crash.
Corrective Action Dealers will repair the rear axle differential bolt connection as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed January 10, 2025. Owners may contact MBUSA customer service at 1-800-367-6372. MBUSA's number for this recall is 2024120005.
