Mercedes-Benz USA – ECU Software May Cause Engine Stall

Mercedes-Benz USA (MBUSA) is recalling certain 2021-2023 S580, and Maybach S580 vehicles. In the event of a mechanical failure in the engine Camtronic system, the engine control unit (ECU) software may cause the engine to overheat or stall.

Consequence Summary An engine stall can increase the risk of a crash. In addition, an engine that overheats can increase the risk of a fire.
Corrective Action Dealers will update the ECU software, free of charge. Interim letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, were mailed November 8, 2024. A second notice will be sent once the final remedy is available. Owners can contact Mercedes-Benz Customer Service at 1-877-496-3691. MBUSA's number for this recall is 20240900152024100007.
