BMW of North America – Front Parking Light Malfunction/FMVSS 108

BMW of North America (BMW) is recalling certain 2023 X7 xDrive40i, and X7 M60i vehicles. In certain vehicle operating conditions, only one of the two front parking lights may remain illuminated. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, “Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment.”

Consequence Summary A loss of illumination from one of the parking lights can reduce visibility, increasing the risk of a crash.
Corrective Action Dealers will reprogram the electronic control unit for the front parking lights, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed November 18, 2022. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417.
