Winnebago Industries – GENERATOR’S INTERNAL CONTROLLER/CUMMINS

ON CERTAIN MOTOR HOMES EQUIPPED WITH WITH A 3.2 QD CUMMINS ONAN GENERATOR, THE GENERATOR’S INTERNAL CONTROLLER MAY FAIL; HOWEVER, THE ELECTRICAL CIRCUITS WOULD REMAIN ENERGIZED. INCLUDED IN THESE CIRCUITS IS THE ELECTRONIC PREHEATED ELEMENT WHICH AIDS COLD STARTS AT AMBIENT TEMPERATURES BELOW 0 DEGREES CELSIUS. IN NORMAL OPERATION, THIS CIRCUIT IS ENERGIZED NO LONGER THAN 120 SECONDS AT 30 CELSIUS. IF THE CIRCUIT REMAINS ENERGIZED BEYOND THE DESIGNED PERIOD, THE PREHEATED ELEMENT CAN OVER HEAT.

Corrective Action WINNEBAGO IS WORKING WITH CUMMINS TO REPLACE THE GENERATORS FREE OF CHARGE (PLEASE SEE 07E076). OWNERS MAY CONTACT CUMMINS AT 812-377-3713 OR WINNEBAGO AT 641-585-3535.
