Prevost Car (US) – Passenger Seat Recline Mechanism Failure/FMVSS 210

Prevost Car (US) (Prevost) is recalling certain 2021-2023 X3-45 commuter buses. The retention pin securing the passenger seat recline mechanism could fail, causing the mechanism to collapse, and result in a loose backrest. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 210, “Seat Belt Assembly Anchorages.”

Consequence Summary During a crash, the loose backrest and the seat belt may not properly restrain the occupant, increasing the risk of an injury.
Corrective Action Dealers will inspect and replace the retention pins and c-clips, if necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on August 25, 2022. Owners may contact Prevost's customer service at 1-866-870-2046.
