Navistar – Loss of Steering Control from Tie Rod Failure

Navistar (Navistar) is recalling certain 2025 IC Bus CE school buses. Tie rod assemblies may contain ball studs that may have been incorrectly heat-treated, which can cause them to break, and possibly result in tie rod failure.

Consequence Summary Tie rod failure can cause a loss of vehicle steering control and increase the risk of a crash.
Corrective Action Dealers will replace the tie rod ends and realign the front axle, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed August 12, 2024. Owners may contact Navistar customer service at 1-800-448-7825. Navistar's number for this recall is 24510.
