Daimler Trucks North America LLC (DTNA) is recalling certain 2011-2021 Thomas Built Saf-T Liner HDX school buses. The forward seat barriers may not provide sufficient protection to passengers. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 222, “School Bus Passenger Seating and Crash Protection.”

| Corrective Action | Dealers will install a spacer between the seat rail and the seat barrier, free of charge. Interim notification letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, were mailed November 8, 2022. A second notice will be sent once the final remedy is available, anticipated late September 2023.
