Cummins – Fuel Pump may Fail

Cummins (Cummins) is recalling certain X15 heavy duty diesel engines used in trucks, fire trucks and recreational vehicles. The affected engines have a fuel pump whose drive gear may slip on its drive shaft, resulting in a loss of fuel pump function.

Consequence Summary Failure of the fuel pump will result in an engine stall, increasing the risk of a crash.
Corrective Action Cummins will notify the vehicle manufacturers that purchased engines that used the affected fuel pumps. Cummins will send notices to the owners of the affected engines and Cummins dealers will replace the fuel pumps, free of charge. The recall began on August 11, 2017. Owners may contact Cummins customer service at 1-800-286-6467. Cummins' number for this recall is C1909.
