Britax Child Safety – BRITAX/FMVSS 213/HEAD EXCURSION

HUSKY CHILD RESTRAINTS MODEL E9L30 MANUFACTURED FROM OCTOBER 7, 2002 TO DECEMBER 8, 2003. THESE SEATS FAIL TO CONFORM TO FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 213, “CHILD RESTRAINT SYSTEMS.” RESTRAINTS WHEN INSTALLED WITH A LAP BELT AS DESCRIBED IN THE CURRENT USER’S MANUAL, FOR A LONG/SERPENTINE BELT PATH, COULD ALLOW THE CHILD’S HEAD TO MOVE FURTHER FORWARD THAN ALLOWED BY FMVSS NO. 213 IN THE EVENT OF A VEHICLE CRASH.

Consequence Summary IN THE EVENT OF A VEHICLE CRASH, THE CHILD'S HEAD MAY STRIKE SOMETHING IN THE VEHICLE, POSSIBLY RESULTING IN INJURY OR DEATH.
Corrective Action REGISTERED OWNERS WILL BE PROVIDED WITH LABELS AND INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE APPLICATION OF THE LABELS TO BE PLACED OVER THE CORRESPONDING INSTRUCTIONS IN THE CURRENT USERS GUIDE AND ON THE RESTRAINT COVER. NON-REGISTERED OWNERS MAY OBTAIN THE FREE REMEDY BY CALLING BRITAX AT 1-888-427-4829. NON-REGISTERED OWNERS ARE STRONGLY URGED TO REGISTER THEIR CHILD SEAT WITH THE MANUFACTURER IN CASE OF FUTURE SAFETY RECALLS. OWNER NOTIFICATION IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN JANUARY 13, 2004. OWNERS WHO DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT BRITAX AT 888-427-4829.
