Continental Tire the Americas – Incorrect Tire Identification Number/FMVSS 574

Continental Tire the Americas (Continental Tire) is recalling certain General Altimax RT43, size 175/65R14 82T tires. The tires contain a tire identification number (TIN) that is missing the 3-digit plant code and the 6-symbol manufacturer’s identification mark. As such, these tires fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 574, “Tire Identification & Recordkeeping.”

What the owner should do?

If you read about a recall that you think may affect your car, you should make immediate contact with a dealer or workshop that’s been officially authorised to perform repairs on behalf of the manufacturer and ask for the details.

If you wish to know more about eventual problems of a specific car (e.g. real mileage, potential traffic accidents damages, odometer rollback, repairs, etc.), then we suggest going to HPI-Check.
